The building dates from 1302 and was named “lostel a le lune”. It was rented by the city of Bruges in the 14th and 15th centuries to be able to provide a worthy shelter for princes and princesses, ambassadors, dignitaries and magistrates at parties and ceremonies on the Markt.
The wooden gable was replaced at the end of the 18th century by a plastered facade with three floors. This façade was then demolished in 1947 to make way for the current neo-Gothic stepped gable, behind which the Cousaert family welcomes you since 15 March 2018 with food and drink in grandmother’s way.
